THINK localeyes!
We're lucky to live in such a place as The Wirral. Ask pretty well any local resident about where they live and they all say the same sort of things. Like how well placed it is...for great Cities like Liverpool and Chester...stunning countyside like that just a few miles away in North Wales...fantastic Culture and Places to go, like Port Sunlight, and the Blue Tank...but we cannot take all this for granted......READ ON>

SAILING ON THE MERSEY!!!
If you can travel to The Wirral area reasonably easily then sailing on the Mersey is a great active hobby.
For one thing there are the views of the iconic Three Graces* on the Liverpool Waterfront as the backdrop. Then there is mighty Mersey Rivers often turbulent current beneath the yachts hull. The current and swell are frequently backed up by the wake from a passing oil tanker. Add in a good
breeze and a dash of competitive but good-natured racing, pleasant companions of both sexes and you have all the ingredients for a great time. And you can experience all this absolutelly free as our guest on one of the "Sail a Squib" evenings. And if you like it.....Article continues here

Experienced Sailor?? Or simply like to sail something bigger. Please see and contact the RMYC via the website, where someone will be happy to give you further details.

MORE...SAILING ON THE MERSEY!!!
continued....
.....you are welcome to come again....and again....and again. We will only ask you to dip your hand in your pocket when it is obvious you are smitten. And even then believe me, it is a myth that sailing is a rich mans sport. At least at our level it will cost about the same as a decent gym Subscription per year. I just run a small removals and storage business in Wirral and Chester called A Smooth Move, and make a ressonable but not huge income and can comfortably afford the Club Fee and the squib group shared annual fee (set by everyone meeting at occasional planning meetings to cover mmoring fees, maintainace costs etc)
The 'SQUIB' is a class of yacht that we feel is ideal for a number of purposes, one being to learn and develop sailing skills from your early days on the water.
Due largely to the weather, sailing on the Mersey at the Royal Mersey Yacht Club takes place from Spring to Autumn, with the Yachts being lifted out and stored at the Clubhouse Yard during the Winter. So for example this year (2007) we got our three squibs in on the 14th April and expect to lift them out on or around the 6th October..... so the sailing season is about 5 months long. As the Mersey is tidal where we sail it is only possible to sail at certain times and these need to coincide at the times when club members can be available, mainly Evenings and Weekends. The Royal Mersey Yacht Club has an extensive list also of pleasant social events, sometimes but not always follwing a sail. Non-sailers are welcome to join there partners at suitable events. Sailing is a great way to unwind and forget the stress and worry of the average day...so give me a call and find out more. (Ric Johnson on 07831 098228). Alternatively why not visit the Royal Mersey Yacht Club Website for more background information.
